Nicki Minaj & Lil Wayne’s Newest Albums Go Platinum On Same Day

Young Money keeps racking up the platinum plaques. Both Lil Wayne’s “Carter V” and Nicki Minaj’s “Queen” albums which were released in September and August, became certified platinum on Jan. 11th (Friday).

“Tha Carter V” was probably Wayne’s most anticipated album in the last 10 years and it didn’t disappoint. It premiered at No. 1 on the Billboard chart and racked up about 480,000 album sales and earned more than 430 million streams in its first week, which makes it the second biggest streaming week for an album ever. “Carter V” has 21 songs and a killer feature list with the likes of: Snoop Dogg, Kendrick Lamar, Travis Scott and more.

Meanwhile, Nicki Minaj’s “Queen” debuted at No. 2 on the Billboard, just behind Travis Scott’s “Astroworld”. Within a month Nicki’s album sold 185,000 units and was certified gold. Two of her singles, “Chun-Li” and “Barbie Tingz” went platinum and gold respectively.

Nicki Minaj is now only 1 million units away until she becomes the first female rapper with 100 million units sold worldwide. You got this Nicki!
